| The curator of the 2010 Betonart Summer School is Architect Kerem Erginoğlu, the moderators are assigned as Deniz Güner, Banu Binat, İpek Durukan, Evrim Demir Mishchenko, Tuba Akar and Çağla Caner Yüksel. The Curator of 2010 Betonart Summer School, Kerem Erginoğlu explains the concept as: “While designing man-made living area, the first building unit is stone and brick or briquette, kind of imitation of stone. A building is made up of building components, units and appliances. |
| Building’s parts constructed by formed building materials is a building element. Brick, briquette, metal forms, wood or pre-cast concrete materials etc. each are all construction elements. Let us think about redesigning the smallest architectural unit without omitting the main theme of ecology, included our daily jargon and often mentioning in nowadays, recycling, isolation, fibers, sustainable buildings. We learned how to form various spaces or built ups by using bricks having size 9x19x5 during schooldays. Then we designed buildings by using building blocks which is an advanced form of briquette. We felt once more the power of completing whole building by using small units.’ Students of 3rd and 4th class from Turkey and Turkish Republic of North Cyprus Schools of Architecture, one from each school nominees will be selected to attend 2010 Betonart Architectural Summer School. The full board costs of the students will be covered by TÇMB. |
