Turkey is a major international cement producer and exporter, providing cement to more than 85 countries across the globe and exporting more than 11% of its total production. Turkish cement can be found in homes, schools, hospitals, bridges and infrastructure developments in locations as far away as East Asia, South America and West Africa. Today, Turkey is the first exporter of Europe and 4th of the World.

The companies from production, transportation and finance areas and audiences from different countries participated INTERCEM 2017 Conference, which was held in Istanbul between15-17 May 2017, were mostly the global players of the cement industry.

The event hosted more than 300 participants from 40 countries, Malcolm Shelbourne, INTERCEM Chief Executive, stated “Turkey plays an important role in the global cement market. Turkish cement is high quality and the services of the country are very good. It’s easy for us to held a conference in Paris or Rome, however we don’t want to chance the venue place. We want people, who get benefit from the services of the Turkish cement sector, to support this kind of  efforts to recover dynamics Turkish economy after July 15th July  coup attempt . We came to Istanbul not only for commercial purposes but also for ethical reasons.”

Ali Özinönü, Vice-President of the Turkish Cement Exporters said, "The continuation of the conference in Istanbul is an important support for the Turkish cement sector and Turkey. We expect the representatives of the sector to show the same sensitivity to the foreign participants. In addition, cement exports increased by 7% in 2016 compared to the previous year, the Turkish cement industry aims to increase exports by 10 percent year-on-year to 13 million tons in 2017
Participants including international companies from Europe, USA, China and Mexico took place at the event. For the Turkish cement sector, new opportunities have been provided to foreign investors and partners to create an investment climate for our country.

Supported by the Turkish Cement Exporters (TCE), and Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association (TCMA), INTERCEM 2017 is set to be the year’s largest independent gathering of international cement producers, traders and equipment and service providers, offering delegates extensive and unsurpassed networking opportunities across the sector.

Mr. Kerem Erşen, Manager of Economic Evaluations Department, TCMA, informed the participants with a presentation on "Economic Indicators of the Turkish Cement Sector" and TCMA also took a place at the exhibition.

Following the conference, delegates had the opportunity to join a post-conference plant visit to Nuh Çimento.
