TCMA Met with Taner Yıldız, Minister of Energy

Authorities from Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association visited Taner Yıldız, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources for the purpose of evaluating achievements of past 100 years of cement industry  and for exchanging information regarding new year’s regulations.

Mustafa Güçlü, TCMA Board Chairman, Celal Çağlar, Deputy Chairman of TCMA, Oğuz Tezmen, General Coordinator of TCMA and some members of the Board of TCMA stated their ideas about the problems and expectations of cement industry in respect to energy efficiency, high energy prices, mining law application regulations and waste management.


TÇMB Gathers Wold Cement Industry in İzmir

The 11th Technical Seminar organized by Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association was held in İzmir between dates of October 11th -14th 2011. 

Making an opening speech at 11th Technical Seminar, Mustafa Güçlü, Board Chairman of Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association, stated “Since 1987 with its corporate structure and scope Technical Seminars have extended beyond forming a platform where only developments on technology, service and system are followed. Within this context, our industry overcoming conventional problems focuses on the issues such as energy efficiency, waste heat recovery, wastes, alternative fuels and environment etc. I believe that these presentations will facilitate significant and creative solutions. Today Turkish cement industry ranks the top of Europe, the fifth in the world with regard to cement production.”

22nd World Mining Congress& Expo Ended

Hosted by WMC Turkish National Committee, 22nd World Mining Congress and Expo organized once in every three years in various countries all over the world was held in Istanbul Lutfi Kirdar Convention & Exhibition Centre and Istanbul EXPO Centre between the dates of 11-16 September 2011.The Congress is organized under the patronage of Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey with the supports of Mining Development Foundation, Chamber of Mining Engineers of Turkey, Miners Association of Turkey, Presidents’ Council of Mining Sector, Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association and other private and public mining institutions.


Mustafa Güçlü is elected unanimously as the new Chairman of Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association. Being TÇMB Board member since 2001, Vice Chairman between years  2004-2008 and the Deputy Chairman since 2008, Güçlü took over the presidency from Adnan İgnebekcili, the Chairman of TÇMB Board since 2001.

Students and teachers of TÇMB Technical and Industrial Vocational High School, constructed by Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association on the occasion of 50th anniversary of TCMA’ s establishment and starting education  in 2010-2011 period, paid a technical visit to Nuh Cement Plant between 30th-31st May 2011.




Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association, 4th Cement Day Activities took place in Hilton Dalaman Resort & SPA between the dates of 15-18 May 2011. The event where centenary anniversary of Turkish cement industry was celebrated, held with participation of previous and new directors of cement industry and their spouses. Guests focused on new policy and strategies to take the industry further as well as industrial evaluations within the scope of 4-day-long Cement Day Activities. Sightseeing to touristic attractions and Dalaman Iztuzu Beach were the final activities of the event.

Harran University 1st High Strength Concrete Competition

Harran University, Departmant of Civil Engineering organized 1st High Strength Concrete Competition to find out students’ structured knowledge onto theory  and their engineering skills during undergraduate education.

 

TCMA 53rd General Assembly Meeting Was Held

The 53rd General Assembly Meeting of Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association (TCMB) was held in Ankara on 15th February 2011. At the meeting where the 100th year of Turkish Cement Industry was also commemorated,evaluation of cement industry in 2010 and expectations of 2011 were touched upon.

 

The 7th  General Assembly Meeting of Construction Products Producers Association was held in Istanbul on 9th February 2011. Adnan Ignebekcili is unanimously elected as chairman for the third time.

TÇMB Receives Incentive Award from Arkitera

Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association (TÇMB) received “the Jury Incentive Award for Project Owners” from Arkitera, the Architecture Center, during a ceremony held in İstanbul on I October. Arkitera has been recognizing the owners of the projects since 2005 who support the realization of high quality architectural work by presenting them with such awards.

 

Turkish Cement Manufacturers' Association, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary gave way for the construction on 29 April 2008 TCMA Technical and Industrial Vocational High School, received its first students for 2010/2011 school year.

ISTANBUL, July 21 (Reuters) - Turkey's cement sector growth could hit double-digits this year on  domestic demand, although higher energy prices will likely sap profits, Turkey's Cement Manufacturers' Association (TCMA) said.
  
Chairman Adnan Ignebekcili told Reuters the industry association expected growth of 8 percent to 10 percent would feed into higher revenues, although profits would lag 2009.

Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association who is the member of EUPAVE (European Concrete Paving Association) published the Turkish version of its publication named “Concrete Roads:A Smart and Sustainable Choice”.

The publication composed of environmental, economic and social benefits of cement and concrete with its sustainable applications. Some of the main titles of the book are as follows;

•    Use of “low energy cement”
•    Lifetime – Maintenance – Costs throughout the service life of the              road
•    Less delays as a result of less road works
•    A range of solutions in favour of mobility

 

Turkish Cement Sector has opened its doors to Sustainable Development

On the occasion of Open Week activities traditionally organized by TÇMB, taken place between dates 26 April - 4 May 2010 at different member plants a press meeting was held. Mustafa Güçlü, Vice Chairman of TÇMB, stated that Turkish Cement Sector, from which 60% development expected in ten years, aims to define its line of course towards sustainable development principles, and is ready to fulfill the responsibilities in equity with other sectors as part of Kyoto Protocol and Environmental Negotiation of European Union.

Güçlü stressed that Turkey’s Development Priority has to be the starting point after the end of Kyoto Protocol and EU Negotiations, particularly industry and all sectors should make large technological investments and have to make up infrastructural deficiencies. He also added that there is a need for large source of finance and time for carrying out all these plans.


Cement Export and revival in domestic market show promise

During the Dinner for Press on 1st of April, 2010, Chairman Adnan İğnebekçili and the Board Members have informed the press that the export has to be noticed by far. The previous period data evaluation  and the expectations for 2010 and 2011 have also been discussed .

Two Directors of National Council for Cement and Building Materials of India made a visit to Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association, Turkish the cement sector’s umbrella establishment, to enrich the relations and negotiate further cooperation areas between 18- 19 March 2010 for 2 half days.

 

Within the framework of its meetings to search solutions for sectorial problems, Construction Products Producers’ Federation (YÜF) this time has met on the topic of environment. In the meeting Adnan İĞNEBEKÇİLİ, chairman of YÜF and Sedat Kadıoğlu, deputy undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry shared their views and relevant information on the harmonization process for the Kyoto Protocol and EU Environment Legislation, with the representatives of the sector.

 

Opening of TÇMB Technical and Industrial Vocational High School

Vocational high schools and technical schools are important for the training of intermediate work force which constitute the back bone of an industry and this is an area where the industry and the education sector should cooperate in joint effort.
For years, Turkish cement sector has adopted the model of  sustainable development  and Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association (TÇMB) has been conducting programs to train young persons so that the sector could provide them with more job opportunities.

In this context, TÇMB contributed to the realization of another first: Establishment of the
first “Cement Technical and Industrial Vocational High School” in the country, helping  the training of the high school youth and preparing them for the professional life.

 

In accordance with the protocol signed between Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association and Arab Union for Cement & Building Materials in order to exchange information and improve cooperation between the Turkish and Arab Countries cement industries, a study tour program was organised by TÇMB. Representatives were invited from Arab Union to the program. Two Syrian delegates  have visited our association and center.

A protocol was signed between Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association and Arab Union for Cement & Building Materials on May 12, 2009 in a meeting hosted by TCMA,Turkey in order to exchange information and improve cooperation between the Turkish and Arab Countries cement industries.
